Is anxiety inherited, what do you think? For me I don't think so. I believe some of us are born into a family where there's anxiety and panic attacks. But that doesn't point to that we will have anxiety.
Talking from my individual own realizing my Mother had anxiety and I am not a 100% certain but I think my Father was a quite nervous man. So yes it was in my family. But I have 4 siblings and not any of them undergo anxiety or panic attacks. I'm also a Sagittarius and it seems as if we're vulnerable to be anxious people. So this may also be a helping factor.
When I had my first session of anxiety I did ask my Doctor the question 'is anxiety inherited'?, he wasn't certain. So far as he was afraid there is no justification anyway. So I think there's no definitive answer to the question 'is anxiety inherited'?.
I really think that there's no such thing as an anxiety gene within us. I do think that we can get on the behaviours of those closest to us when we're growing up. So I feel we can have learnt behaviour. Which is anything completely dissimilar to anxiety?
As kids we might have observed anyone near to us having an anxiety attack and not truly realized what was happening. But what we would of picked up, was the fear they where feeling. And if it was a close relative who was acting afraid, then we'd really be terrified, as we looked to them to keep us protected. But we wouldn't of realized there fear.
So there may be an issue for anxiety being a learnt behavior, but as for the question 'is anxiety inherited'?, I'm not sure. Although it could be truly advantageous often to know where my anxiety originated from. And yes when I was feeling down it may of been rather beneficial to have anyone to blame and be angry with. But again that's only part of the course, well it was for me. The not knowing or understanding was actually frightening. It would of been useful for me to have the doctor say, yes its inherited, at least then I might of least realized my anxiety better.
