Is Physical Fitness Equipment Necessary?
With the advent of new age communication mediums in early sixties, physical fitness equipment also started gaining good ground in the lives of common people. The general population started becoming more and more aware about their health and well-being. Prior to their advent, the usual alternative of physical fitness equipments used to be freehand exercises using bodyweight as resistance. Even-though dumbbells and barbells were always in use, they were not utilized as frequently as the methods of freehand exercises such as push-ups, sit ups, squats, pull ups etc. However, the entire fitness industry took a great leap during 1960s with the rise in popularity of physical fitness equipments. Two Different Modes As the popularity of physical fitness equipments kept increasing, it created a gap between the fitness enthusiasts from the old school and the new era. The common argument on the street was whether there was any need for such equipments, considering the natural ability of a human body to tone itself with freehand workout. The moderates believed that everyone was taking a rather extreme approach towards these two forms of exercise. If looked at more practically, each one is beneficial in its own right. If practiced together, both the physical fitness equipments and freehand exercises can do wonders to human body. Each one has a specific purpose and should not be practiced at the cost of the other. Freehand exercises are normally meant to build muscle endurance and cannot be of great use if one is looking for an extensive strength training program. Hence, if one wants to build good strength, one should look for alternatives other than freehand exercises alone. Physical fitness equipments have been a great blessing for professional body builders who derive their bread and butter from this business. Their ever increasing demand for a larger frame and bigger muscles can be easily met by a healthy combination of lifting weights, freehand exercises and physical fitness equipments with adjustable resistance. Professionals can obtain a springboard effect by working out with maximum weights on resistance provided by the fitness equipments. This pushes the muscles to their limits and can contribute significantly to their expansion. It should be reiterated that whether one uses physical fitness equipment or some other form of exercise, the decision should only be determined by fitness goals one has set for self and must be based on good knowledge about ones needs. Going about your fitness regime in a random manner by doing whatever comes by, can only lead to unsatisfactory results.
